Namungo Village, Uganda
Uganda has one of the youngest and most rapidly growing populations in the world; its total fertility rate is among the world's highest at close to 5.5 children per woman in 2022.
The average monthly salary in Uganda is between $270 and $675.
The average wage depends on education level. Workers with no education or less than first grade education earn approximately $26 per month, while those with upper secondary education earn around $133 per month. When children are educated the entire village will prosper.
Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa whose diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Its abundant wildlife includes chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary. Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest is known for its 43m-tall waterfall and wildlife such as hippos.
Uganda gained its independence from Great Britian in 1962. Chronic political instability and erratic economic management since the implementation of self-rule has produced a record of persistent economic decline that has left Uganda among of the world's poorest and least-developed countries in the world.
